The Director General of Mazandaran Fisheries, a single engineer, the Director General of the Development and Management Office of Fishing Ports of Iran, the Board of Directors of Kilkai Fishery Union of the province was held at the place of Babolsar Fisheries Department.
In this meeting, the Director General of Mazandaran Fisheries, referring to the importance of the two fishing ports of Babolsar and Amirabad in the fishery economy of the province, said:
In Mazandaran province, 115 fishing organizations with a population of more than 5,000 people make a living through fishing in the sea, which play an important role in providing part of the protein needed by the society, employment and income generation.
He further added:
The fishing port of Babolsar is one of the important fishing ports, where 37 Kilka-Gir vessels are stationed and moored, about 10 recreational-tourist vessels, and it is considered as one of the important docks to support the fish breeding plan in the marine cages. In recent years, problems have arisen in the movement and mooring of fishing vessels due to the backwater of the sea, which we were able to do with the follow-up of the Mazandaran Fisheries Directorate and the good participation and support of organizations and various institutions, including the governorate, city council, and municipality, using barges and excavators. By dredging the entrance to the port, we will solve the problems to some extent.
In the end, the Director General of Mazandaran Fisheries announced the physical progress of the Babolsar port fishing wharf at 93% and stated:
An amount of 10 (ten) billion Tomans was approved for the improvement of the Babolsar fishing port during the visit of the honorable government delegation to the province in 2021, of which 3% has been allocated so far and 3 billion Tomans have been allocated by the Iranian Fisheries Organization for the dredging of the Babolsar fishing port. We hope that by fully allocating the funds for the trip of the respected government delegation, we will be able to complete the project by preparing and installing port equipment in the mentioned wharf while dredging the Babelroud river.
